I’ve been a huge fan of Bruce since the early days of The Range. His chord voicings and improvisations have had a tremendous influence on my playing style. I followed Bruce’s original style as it grew over the years, blurring the lines between Pop, Jazz, Rock and Bluegrass, trying to pick out licks and learn as much as I could glean from both studio and jaw-dropping live performances. Again and again, always just as I felt I was beginning to understand the genius of his work, wouldn’t you know he’d come out with something new and exciting that took off in a fresh and innovative direction. I wanted to be a part of this project because, more than anything, I want to thank Bruce for his music and all that it has meant to me as a musician.

“Introduction to The Way It Is” is my attempt to recreate a small part of the amazing performance Bruce had on February 2, 1987 when he played Live at the Ritz in New York City. I hope you enjoy it.
